“The technology may not be ready today for humans to be out of the loop, but it will get there faster than state and federal regulatory processes,” Sirona Strategies partner Krista Drobac told STAT. “We need to do everything we can to structure a way to pilot these technologies as soon as possible to ensure they are safe.”
Drobac emphasized the importance of piloting technologies early to evaluate safety and support responsible innovation, with state sandboxes offering a pathway to test these technologies. The Coalition to Advance State AI Sandboxes was highlighted for its work bringing together providers, technology companies, and policy experts to advance legislation and develop frameworks for AI sandboxes.
