On November 23, President-elect Trump announced nominees for FDA, CDC, and Surgeon General. Please see below for background memos on each nominee.

On November 12, President-elect Trump announced the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will serve as a presidential advisory commission providing advice and guidance from outside the federal government to streamline bureaucracy and reduce inefficiency. Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the effort. DOGE will have a significant impact on the federal workforce and operations. On November 19, President-elect Trump announced the appointment of Dr. Mehmet Oz to serve as the CMS Administrator. Dr. Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon, television personality, and former Republican candidate for Senate. Read more below.

President Elect Trump announced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). RFK Jr.’s nomination prompted an expected, partisan response from Congress. Some Republicans have praised his independent approach to public health policies and applauded his critical stance on mainstream health practices, especially those involving vaccines and the pharmaceutical industry.
