  • On October 22, the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a report finding that Medicare Part D paid millions for drugs for which payment was available under the Medicare Part A Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) benefit. Full Report Report Report in Brief
  • Also on October 22, HHS released a report, which found the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) saved Medicare Part D beneficiaries nearly $1 billion in out-of-pocket prescription drug costs in the first half of 2024. Report Press Release

  • On October 21, the Departments of HHS, Labor, and the Treasury released proposed rules that would expand access to coverage of recommended preventive services without cost sharing in the commercial market, with a particular focus on reducing barriers to coverage of contraceptive services.   • On October 21, FDA released an executive summary and discussion questions on generative artificial intelligence- (AI) enabled devices, which will be considered during the Digital Health Advisory Committee’s November meeting. Discussion Questions Executive Summary
  • On October 24, the White House released a memorandum on artificial AI and national security, outlining actions for relevant agencies and the Intelligence Community to address the national security risks and potential benefits posed by AI.   • On October 25, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) released a request for information (RFI) on the use or adoption of interoperability standards for human services programs. ACF will collaborate with ASTP/ONC as it aims to harmonize interoperability standards between health and human services in line with the HHS Data Strategy. Prescription Drugs & Health Innovation – On October 21, Senate Majority Whip Durbin (D-IL), and Sens.
